McKinney Bed and Breakfast in Dallas, TX

McKinney Bed and Breakfast was named among Time Out’s Top 12 Best Bed and Breakfast Inns in America for 2016. In 2018, it was named The Most Charming B&B in Texas by Reader’s Digest. McKinney is a city located in a northern suburb of Dallas. The city’s west side features numerous grand Texan homes. The east is where visitors can find the square and the historic downtown with more than 120 restaurants and stores (situated in 1800s original buildings) just a couple of short blocks away from the bed and breakfast.

Local entertainment

On the weekends, guests can enjoy live music, as well as wineries, a weekly farmer’s market, monthly flea and vintage markets that attract visitors from all over the U.S., carriage rides, ghost walks, walking tours, food tours, and annual festivals. It’s also a great place to get married, with more than 20 wedding venues within 25 miles of downtown.

McKBnB has welcomed guests from all over the world throughout the years. Local guests also often visit for a night or two for a special occasion, such as an anniversary, birthday, or even a romantic weekend away with a break from the kids. Due to its reviews, the venue has a high rate of repeat guests, with its rooms typically booked up 3-6 months ahead of time, depending on the time of year.

Charming property

The owners did their own reservation bookings from 2012 to 2016 before switching to Think Reservation’s online booking system. This isn’t a B&B limited by certain seasons. If they wanted to, the owners could work every single day of the year, as the weather in Texas is rarely restrictive for guests.

The charming property, which was built all the way back in 1880, tripled in size some 110 years later. It includes a wrap-around porch with a pretty landscaped yard surrounding it. Adjacent to the first floor is a private entrance to a stunning guest room. First-timers and newlyweds have been known to love the private entrance.

Stunning rooms

The two-level staircase situated just inside of the front door takes visitors to the two larger guest rooms. Each of these stunning rooms has their own bathrooms, as well as room for extra beds, if needed. Both rooms feed into a sitting room, located next to the staircase.

Also at this level is a guest room with its own spiral staircase that leads to the main house’s backyard. The room is the largest in the property and is privately used by the owners. That doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t consider letting it in the future, however, as it would likely significantly increase their revenue.

In the backyard, there are more than 40 types of flowers, vines, bushes, and trees. There are also a landscaped courtyard, a covered back porch, a fire pit patio, and an iron gazebo. Included are guest beds, linens, dishware and all appliances.
